Golden Whiskers Project is an iHeartCats emergency initiative made possible through partnerships with rescue organizations across the country. This program was created with a heartfelt mission: to save senior cats from being euthanized simply for being old or having manageable health issues, and to give them the comfort, care, and dignity they deserve in their golden years.

Why It Matters

Senior cats are among the most vulnerable and overlooked animals in shelters. Many have spent years as someone's loyal companion, only to be surrendered or abandoned in old age — and heartbreakingly, they're often the first to be labeled "unadoptable" and marked for euthanasia. Many are also battling manageable but costly health conditions that shelters and rescues can't always afford to treat. Golden Whiskers Project gives these cats a second chance — funding the food, medicine, and care they need to live out their final chapter in peace, with a warm lap and the love they've never stopped giving.
